American Shepards Pie

This is one of our favorite fall/winter comfort foods.
It’s super easy and quick to make and tastes wonderful đŸ™‚

This is actually one of the very first recipes we ever tried off of Pintrest, so it has a little bit of  sentimental value as well. Occasionally we go through major homebody phases especially when it’s cold outside so we like to do a lot cooking! Also, just a heads up that I have been cooking a lot lately and didn’t have much time to add posts. So you can expect a little barrage today and tomorrow.

So here we go!


  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 potatoes (mashed)
  • 1 bag of your favorite frozen veggies (we like ones with carrots, onions, peas, green beans, or corn)
  • 10 oz can tomato sauce or tomato soup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks of celery (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cup colby jack cheese (shredded)


Preheat oven to 350. In a skillet add the garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, celery and ground beef. Over medium heat cook until the meat is browned. Add the tomato sauce and frozen vegetables. Heat up until the veggies have thawed.

Add the mixture into a glass or ceramic cooking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top. Put in the oven for 25 minutes. Add the cheese and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted.
